Altered U.S. military bolt action service rifle chambered in .30-40 Krag, manufactured circa 1896. Features a blued refinish, W. A. Sukalle marked 24" barrel, ramped blade front sight, adjustable flip-up ladder rear sight graduated to 2,000 yards, single barrel band, side-mounted 5 round hinged magazine with cut-off on the left side of the receiver, two-position mauser style safety, smooth trigger, brown leather sling, smooth walnut handguard and cut-down straight grip shoulder stock with finger grooves in the forend, trapdoor metal buttplate & "R.D.R." stamp on the underside of the wrist. Rifle exhibits approximately 70% of it's blued finish showing wear, scattered scratches and a small amount of light surface rust. The bolt has the serial number engraved in it with electric pencil. Action is very smooth, the bore is excellent, the receiver markings are faint/incomplete, the wood forend bears a crack from the rear sight to the receiver and the shoulder stock is fine. Condition is NRA Good+ as altered. ***Antique Firearm***
