U.S. Military breechloading single-shot service rifle chambered in .45-70 Government, circa 1866. Features a blued/case hardened finish, 32.6" tapered barrel, blade front sight, Buffington adjustable rear sight, socket bayonet, piling swivel, brown leather sling, two barrel bands, serrated trigger, knurled hammer spur, and full-length straight grip walnut shoulder stock with "U.S." marked metal buttplate. Markings: Breech - "U.S./Model/1884". Barrel - V/P/Eagle Head, "A" & "P". Lock - "U.S./SPRINGFIELD" & eagle/arrows. Stock - circled "P" and a "SWP/1891" cartouche. Rifle exhibits a mottled brown patina with some scattered dark rust and traces of the original finish retained in the protected areas.
