Last of a long line of Springfield Trapdoor models to serve the U.S. Government troops. Blued finish, Lock marked with the U.S. Eagle and "U.S. Springfield". "VP/Eagle proof on barrel/Breech block shows "U.S. Model 1884". Straight grip stock with 2 barrel bands and sling swivels still attached, 32 1/2" barrel with adjustable Buffington rear sight graduated to 1500 yards. Marked "R".(Rifle) U.S. marked curved buttplate, comb flat stamped "A" over "56". Action is crisp/tight. Bore is very good, needs cleaning. Wood is good/sound with some small chips, scratches. Metal finish has mostly a brown/gray patina. bore is dark/rough, rifling present. Two cock hammer action is smooth/crisp. Non-regulation brown leather sling attached.NRA Condition-Very Good. Antique Firearm.
