Sn: 193107 Carbine. Single-Shot. Breech-Block action. Produced 1873-1884. Cavalry carbine with 22" round barrel. Early "Indian Wars Carbine". Type used at the Little Big Horn. Lock plate marked with Eagle, and "U.S. Springfield. Hinged "Trapdoor" stamped "U.S. model 1873". "VP Eagle proof on lower barrel. There is also an "A" and "P". (Faint) Serial number on breech block. Barrel band stamped "U". A crude "47" has been stamped on the froward breech block. Rack number? Correct rear sight stamped "C" for carbine. Bore appears ok with rifling present, but is dark/dirty. needs a good cleaning. Barrel has turned a plum color mixed with a dull blue. Breech block is mostly blue. Hammer. lock plate, and triggerguard have blue remaining. There are no cartouches, or "P" proof on the stock, as it has been sanded, and refinished. there is a small chip under the lock plate. Froward of the triggerguard is a 3/4" spot that looks as if was filled with plastic wood or the like. U.S. marked, hinged buttplate has traces of blue with some small areas of pitting. NRA Condition-Good/Stock Re-Finished Antique firearm
