Springfield 1870 Saddle Ring Carbine. S/N 342020 (Model 1873 receiver), .50 Gov. caliber, 22" barrel,1870 breech block, long wrist stock, converted rifled musket lock and hammer, 1870 sight. A very good representative of one of the scarcest U.S. cavalry rifles (about 300 made) put together from parts. CONDITION: Barrel is cut down and re-crowned rifle barrel with dove tail front sight, excellent bright bore, metal has scattered light pitting, converted rifle stock is excellent with E. A. Allen cartouche, lock is mechanically excellent, 1870 block is tight fit to the 1873 receiver. Being sold to benefit the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum's Program and Acquisition Funds.
