Sporterized Remington Rolling Block Breechloading Single Shot Saddle Ring Carbine, NVSN, 7mm CF cal., 20.5'' tapered round barrel with high blade front and sliding-leaf (has unique ramped-notch) rear sights, marked ''7MM-SM.'' midway on top; large No. 5 action has military type high-spur hammer, standard hinged breechblock, loop trigger guard, auto extraction, left-side saddle ring and bar, is marked with maker's name, address and 1864-72-73-74 patent dates on top tang; two-piece oil-stained walnut stocks with raised carved aprons at frame junctures on both sides of lock (like the Mid-Range Target rifle), the forend with Schnabel tip, buttstock with checkered hard rubber buttplate having entwined ''R A Co.'' initials within an ornate relief shield. Mfg'd post-1898 with blued barrel and case hardened receiver. Condition is good as configured and with later finishes, the barrel being a smooth bluish brown with clear markings, the receiver having traces of case colors but smooth gunmetal gray showing scattered cleaned pitting, the tang markings being legible, not sharp. Stocks of later mfg. are smooth and unmarked with nice grain and color; buttplate has sharp checkering and details, and one tiny nick at bottom. Action is strong and smooth; bore is clean showing overall light frosting and defined rifling. Est.: $300-$500. (C&R)
