Here is a rare find! A nearly complete Spode tea set with a pattern dating to 1813. The backstamp was used prior to 1833. This porcelain/bone china set consists of the following:<p>
~ Teapot - 10-1/2"l x 5"w x 5-1/2" h

~ Tea tile or tray - 7"l x 5-7/8"w

~ Creamer - 5-1/4"l x 2-7/8"w x 3-5/8"h

~ Waste Bowl- 6-1/4" diameter x 3-1/4"h

9 Tea Cups - 3-1/2" diameter x 2-1/4"h, (2 of these tea cups have minor chips)

7 Coffee Cups - 3" diameter x 2-1/4"h, (2 of the coffee cups have minor chips)

11 Saucers (with mark from 1810-1833)- 5-1/2" x 1-1/8" (1 of these has a hairline on the underside.)

The decoration is in the Oriental fashion, being a variation on the Bow-Pot pattern. One side of the main design has a planter with a loose arrangement, on a low table. There are flowers, leaves, and fruit or pod-type elements. Curling ribbons or streamers trail out beyond the flowers. The other side has a low bowl with an arrangement next to a vase with another loose arrangement, sitting on a veined leaf-type pad. <p>The coloring ranges from reddish-brown to cinnabar and soft apricot. The design has been transferred under-glaze, with hand-painting inside the transferred lines, and extensive gilding over-glaze. The border features stylized grapes, with tendrils and leaves.
