Charles Dickens was disgusted by the
American habit of spitting. He wrote about a
train journey that saliva out of the railway car
windows - flew so perpetually and
incessantly... that it looked as though they
were ripping open feather-beds inside and
letting the wind dispose of the feathers.

For those inclined to be neater, there was
the cuspidor. This antique vessel is pottery in high Victorian
style, glazed glossy cobalt blue.

If you don't chew, it will make a great
planter.

7-1/2 inch diameter, 5 inch high.

Very Good condition. No chips, cracks or
other damage.
No manufacturer marks.
