"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
''Spindletop'' by James A. Clark and Michel T. Halbouty. New York: Random House: 1952. Beaumont edition printed especially for sale in Beaumont, Texas, the home of the Spindletop oil field. Octavo volume runs 306pp. and is accompanied by dustjacket. Includes color map of Beaumont to front pastedown and ffep, as well as several photographs. On 10 January 1901 driller Anthony F. Lucas struck oil at Spindletop, resulting in America's first oil gusher. The ''Lucas Geyser,'' as it became known, shot oil more than 150 feet into the air at a rate of 100,000 barrels per day. It took nine full days to get the gusher under control. Lucas made millions, Beaumont tripled in size in three months and U.S. oil production tripled overnight. The dramatic discovery revolutionized the oil industry in the United States as we know it today. Both book and dustjacket are bright, clean and unblemished. A pristine find in fine condition.
