(Marvel, c.1994) A very rare archive of production materials used in the creation of the pilot episode and subsequent episodes of Spider-Man: The Animated Series. The archive includes a bound printed production copy of storyboards from the pilot episode, "Night of the Lizard," dated May of 1993, as well as a bound printed production Design Packet dated April of 1994, both before the cartoon's November 1994 debut. These materials were used by the production team during the creation of the pilot episode, and to keep characters and background designs consistent among later episodes. The printed storyboard packet contains approximately 300 pages of storyboard drawings used in the creation of the pilot episode of this fan-favorite animated series. The Design Packet contains approximately 300 pages separated into tabbed sections of character size comparisons, mouth charts, run/walk cycles, main characters, villains, backgrounds, vehicles, and props. Together, these production materials provide a scarcely seen wealth of information on the creation of Spider-Man: The Animated Series. Both packets contain sheets measuring 8.5"x14" and are production-bound with metal prong fasteners. The condition of these materials is very good, with expected handling wear and minor yellowing to the edges from age and use. A few pages are absent from both packets, possibly from use in production.
