Extensive documentation discusses Reynolds, who was born in Missouri in 1832, and settled near Roanoke in Denton County, Texas, in 1847. Reynolds was a Confederate soldier in Co. E, 29th Texas Cavalry, and according to the history of Denton County, he started life as a poor boy and developed into a wealthy stockman and was President of the Exchange National Bank when he died. Copies of Private Reynolds' service record index card, copies of articles dealing with cattle brands, as well as several other correspondence with known Spencer experts discuss the fact that Pvt. Reynolds was probably enamored by the Spencer rifle, as several Texas Units were issued this firearm. After the War, as he became more affluent, Reynolds acquired one tailored to his own requirements. Condition is about very good.
