Spencer Model 1865 .50 caliber saddle-ring carbine, 19” barrel fitted with stabler cut off, serial #20851. In excellent to near mint original condition. The barrel shows 95-98% original military blue finish, some slight scratches and minor aging just starting. The lock, frame, hammer, lever, and trigger show 90-95% bright and fiery original case hardening. The stocks show two sharp cartouches, and some minor dings, mars on the forend. The buttplate shows 75-85% case hardening, the rear band has drifted to traces of original blue finish. The interior shows vivid colors and almost no evidence of use. The bore is near excellent with just some dirt that would clean and is still bright. The rear band shows drifting to patina and about 30% blue. The carbine shows two British proofs and a generally near excellent example.
