Spencer Carbine Model 1860 Breech Load Rifle, 52 Cal.rimfire. Carbine was manufactured by Spencer Repeating Rifle Co., Boston, Massachusetts, carbines number from about 11,000 to 61,000, this weapon revolutionized carbines, it was the first repeating carbine to be significantly employed in the Civil War, Spencer rifles were first introduced by Custer's cavalry at Gettysburg, then the short carbines tipped the balance in the 1864 and 1865 cavalry campaigns, most notably in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. It could load seven all weather or metallic rim fire cartridges, which was a major advantage over the single shot paper cartridge percussion weapons previously employed. The so called "56 / 56" cartridge was used, the bullet is actually .52 caliber, seven cartridges were loaded by a magazine tube fitted through the butt, iron buttplate and single band, cartridge was readied by raising and lowering a lever also serving as a trigger guard, chamber edges are sharp, bore has six lands and grooves, equipped with Spencer long range sight, saddle bar and ring on left side for hanging from a sling, strap hook on bottom of butt. Mark on top of frame: "SPENCER REPEATING - / RIFLE CO. BOSTON. MASS. / PAT'D MARCH 6. 1860. ". Serial number on rear of frame. Cartouches on the left side on the butt are typically weak, additional inspector marks on the receiver, and barrel. Barrel length, 22in. Ref: Flayderman 9B-086. Gun has small crack, scratches and scuffs to stock and forearm. Rifle is in good condition. See photos for more information. Gun is believed to be but not guaranteed to be in shooting order. Kennedys Auction Service has not attempted to test fire any gun in this auction and all guns are sold "IN AS IS CONDITION" and are not guaranteed to be operational.

Kennedy's Auction Service will ship antique firearms (Manufactured in 1898 or before) with the United States Postal Service at the buyers expense. Insurance is required. In no event will Kennedy's Auction Service be responsible for any damage, regardless of the cause. All Post 1898 Firearms must be shipped to an FFL by Batesville Gun and Pawn Shop, 140 E. Main Street, Batesville, AR. Buyer will pay a transfer fee of $25 per gun and shipping fees.

1. All sales are final.
2. All major credit cards are accepted as payment. Payment must be made day of auction. Credit card used for registration will be charged immediately upon purchase of any lot.
3. All lots are sold as shown, with all faults, imperfections and errors of description. Kennedy's Auction Service is not responsible for errors of description or authenticity of any lot or for any defect of it. Kennedy's Auction Service gives no warranty whatsoever to any buyer in respect to any lot. No credits or refunds shall be given.
4. On the fall of the auctioneer's hammer or other acknowledgment of a successful bidder on a lot, title to the property in that lot will pass and the successful bidder thereupon assumes full risk and responsibility for the purchased property. The highest bidder shall be the buyer. If any dispute arises, the auctioneer shall have absolute discretion to settle it and put any disputed lot up for sale again. Kennedy's Auction Service has full discretion to refuse any bid, to divide any lot, to combine any two or more lots and to withdraw any lot or lots from the sale.
5. All merchandise must be picked up within 15 calendar days of the auction. It is the buyer's responsibility to pick up the merchandise or arrange shipping. Kennedy's Auction Service will ship durable items at the owners' expense. Insurance and delivery confirmation will be required. All items not picked up within 15 calendar days are subject to a storage charge of $10 per item per day.
6. Kennedy's Auction Service is not responsible for packing or shipping any purchases. If any assistance is provided, it is at the entire risk of the buyer. In no event will Kennedy's Auction Service be responsible for any damage, regardless of the cause.
7. In no event will Kennedy's Auction Service's liability to a buyer ever exceed the purchase price paid.
8. Online bidding is a convenience offered to Kennedy's Auction Service customers and while we make every effort to execute your instructions regarding your Online Bids. Kennedy's Auction Service is not liable or responsible for any errors or failure to execute such instructions.
9. A 15% buyer's premium will be added to the successful bid price for items purchased through online bidding.
10. A range of estimates may be given on lots with a low and a high estimate. Estimates should not be relied on as a prediction of the actual selling price but are merely an opinion as to the value.
11. All legal disputes or any litigation's that may arise, for any reason, between Kennedy's Auction Service and bidder shall be tried in Courts of Selmer, McNairy County, Tennessee.
12. By registering to bid on any item, bidder agrees to all terms and conditions of the auction.
13. Kennedy's Auction Service reserves the right to refuse to accept bids or approve bidders for any reason. Some bidders may be required to have a hold placed on their credit card in order to be approved to bid.

Dealers must have in their possession on day of sale signed copies of their Federal Firearms License in order to accept same day delivery of modern weapons, Transfer will be made at Batesville Gun & Pawn. Shipping for Out of State Buyers must be arranged through Batesville Gun & Pawn and must be shipped to a valid holder of a Federal Firearms License on all modern weapons.
