This lot features a Spencer Model 1860 .52 Caliber Civil War Carbine. This is a .52 caliber repeating carbine that loaded through a magazine tube in the butt plate, used with great success by the Union forces and by the Confederacy when they could capture them. This is a particularly fine example with all parts original and intact including the sling ring bar, correct original magazine tube, original and correct ladder rear sight with slide intact, correct single swivel in the butt stock, correct original 22” barrel, correct original Spencer markings on the top of the receiver, all metal parts show fine aged patina with no signs of abuse or rust, totally uncleaned stock and forearm without chips or cracks, this is a rare carbine that saw heavy Civil War use and managed to survive in remarkable original condition.
