Spencer, IA - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 626 The First NB Ch. #(M) 3898
We sold a nice Very Fine from the only other, and considerably more available bank from here in our 2005 FUN sale for $1,897.50. This institution failed in the Summer of 1927, leaving the community without a note issuing bank. It is represented in the census by a scant four pieces and should spark considerable bidder interest. Tonight's example is Very Good-Fine and retains an especially dark President's signature, although the Cashier's signature is not in evidence. This is just the type of scarce note from a strongly collected state that can precipitate a bidding war on the part of floor bidders.
