Civil War Model w/ Post-War Alteration Altered by Springfield Armory 1867-74 for use in the Indian Wars., 3 grooved bore instead of 6. , no stabler cut-off, correct "ESA" cartouche on left wrist. U.S. military contact breech-loading lever action repeating rifle chambered in .50 Rimfire, manufactured by the Spencer Repeating/Rifle Co. Boston, Mass, circa 1863-1865. Features a 22" barrel, raised blade front sight, flip-up ladder rear sight graduated to 800 yards, rounded trigger, knurled hammer spur, 7 round tube magazine located in the buttstock, sling bar with saddle ring, J shaped finger lever, smooth walnut forend with single barrel band, and straight grip shoulder stock with metal carbine buttplate, and sling swivel. Rifle retains minor traces of finish with the vast majority of the metal surfaces in the white with scattered areas of light pitting.
