This lustrous piece is of such a high quality and compact weave that no other rug can match or surpass it. Please notice that also attesting to the fine weave is the fact that the back of the rug looks as good as the front. This piece has about 200 knots per square inch and it takes over three years to create this beauty. bidjar is a small Kurdish town in the north western part of Iran. The name bidjar denotes the meaning of durability to many carpet specialists. The weaver uses their heavy metal combs, to beat the weft and the knots, to the point that the pile almost stands up. The leather band sewn on the edge at the back of this rug is to keep the edges from curling under due to the extreme tightness of the weave. Size: 11 feet 7 inches X 8 feet 3 inches. Country of Origin: Iran.
