Spectacular Factory Engraved Pre-War Colt Single Action Army Revolver with Highest Known Pre-War Serial Number with Carved Ivory Grips

WOW! What a phenomenal collector pistol that is all original and beautifully engraved. It is the very last Pre-War Colt Single Action Army, factory engraved pistol sold by the Colt factory in March 1941. If you are a Colt Single Action Army Collector, this is the pistol to step up to the plate and buy, as there is not another one like this! Not only is it the last know pistol to be shipped out before WWII it is the last Engraved Colt Single Action Army First Generation known. This is a beautiful classic Colt Single Action Army that is unfired and housed in a custom black leatherette display case with royal blue and white interior. In the bottom of the case is a 6 1/2 X 3 inch compartment (usually intended to hold a box of cartridges) that has a small leather placard that reads "THE LAST KNOWN PRE-WAR COLT/FACTORY ENGRAVED SINGLE ACTION/ARMY REVOLVER. THE HIGHEST/SERIAL NUMBER 357600 SHIPPED/MARCH 19, 1941 TO SAN FRANCISCO". The engraving performed on the pistol is certainly master level and beautifully laid out with meticulous detail of a vine and floral pattern with a light punch dot background, intermixed with rosettes on the right side of the barrel, rear of the cylinder and rear edges of the frame. The engraving covers 75% of the revolver that appears to be in the Glahn style with a light/single line border around the Colt factory barrel and caliber markings, while the Colt patent dates and serial number on the underside of the frame have a slight geometric border pattern. This beautiful revolver has the traditional Colt blue and color casehardened finishes with the polished hammer sides, being off set by an equally rare set of Colt classic large steer head carved ivory grips with Colt silver medallions on both sides. The carved steer head grips seen during this time are a classic reminder of the Old West large horned steers found on all the cattle drives during the late 1880s and the significant part that the Colt Single Action Army revolvers played in taming the Western Frontier. Interestingly enough this super rare revolver is serial number "357600" and just happens to be in the new and highly desirable 357 Magnum caliber, which is marked on the side of the barrel: "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .357". The left upper trigger guard bow has the standard Colt factory proofs which consist of a "4/Colt VP/triangle" verified proof. The case is also a classic form fitting style that measures 15 X 7 3/4 inches, has a black leatherette exterior with a royal blue and white interior, that is also bordered with a matching blue and white twist cord around the edges. Inside the lid there is a diagonal royal blue/white ribbon marked in gold letters "COLT ARMY".
