Spectacular Cased Pair of Engraved Gold and Silver Remington Over/Under Derringers with Pearl Grips -A) Engraved Gold and Silver Type II Remington Over and Under Derringer


A) This Type II derringer was manufactured from 1888 to 1911. The sides of the barrels are engraved with floral scroll and punch dot designs with a scallop and dot line connecting the patterns on the upper barrel. The frame has the same floral scroll and punch dot design, as well as a diamond and dot design on the upper and lower frame sides. The top of the barrel rib is marked "REMINGTON ARMS Co. ILION, N.Y." The matching serial number is on the bottom of the lower barrel and left side of the frame under the grip panel. The barrels are silver, gold frame and the extractor, screws, hammer and trigger are niter blue. Fitted with smooth pearl grips. The pair are complete in a contemporary wooden case with an inset brass plaque on the lid and brown velvet lining with silver embossed "Remington" on the inside of the lid. In the case are (8) .41 caliber rimfire cartridges with a "V" head stamp.

Very fine as custom embellished. The barrel retains 98% of the silver plated finish. The frame retains 97% of the gold finish with some minor flaking on the grip straps. 99% of the bright niter blue finish remains on the small components. The grips are very fine with a few small chips on the edges and a minor crack forming on the right panel. The markings and engraving are clear. Mechanically fine. The case is very good with a few minor dings and scratches on the exterior and some contact wear on the lining.

B) Manufactured from 1912 to 1935. The top of the barrel rib is marked "REMINGTON ARMS - U.M.C. CO. ILION, N.Y." Matching serial numbers and has the identical features of "A".
