lot of nine ca 1898 Case & Draper photographs, 4.5" x 6.5", mounted on gray board, 7" x 9", with Case & Draper's Skaguay [sic], Alaska imprint below each image. The collection includes the following: a bird's eye view of Skagway, which quickly became the gateway to the Klondike goldfields in 1898, with the Klondike Trading Company building visible in the center of the photo; a view of miners with their pack animals on the White Pass Trail, as written in the negative; an image of miners setting up camp on the snow-covered Summit White Pass, as identified in the negative; two photographs of a jumble of miners' tents and shacks lining the shores of Lake Bennett, as written in the negatives, which was at the end of the White Pass Trail; an image of the White Pass and Yukon Railroad station; a photo titled in the negative First R.R. Excursion in Alaska, Pacific and Artic R.R. Nav. Co. 7.20.1898; an image titled in the negative Steamer Oregon on Douglas Island Feb. 20' 1898; and an unidentified view of boats docked, possibly at Moore's Wharf in Skagway.

W.H. Case and H.H. Draper opened their photography studio in a small tent in Skagway in 1898. They later moved their business to a building on Broadway where they sold their images along with photographic supplies, curios, and Alaskan handicrafts. Case & Draper were best known for their photographs of early Skagway and the 1898 Gold Rush, as well as portraits of the Tlingit Indians.
