Spanish style cup hilt rapier circa late 17th to early 18th century in style of late 17th to early 18th century showing nicely worked guard with stylized lion. The sword measures 42-1/2” overall with 35” blade reinforcedthe last 4-1/2” of Riscasso. Blade probably 6 inches longer and shortened during period of use. The metal shows a matching heavy patina and the nut has not been disturbed. The wire grip is good and is probably copper. Many of this style carried to the New World in the Spanish Colonial era by the explorers. Est.;$900-$1,800.
