1898 A brass medal with red, white, and blue enamel work representing American flags, on a brass hanger that is embossed "Camp Haskell". The medal is embossed with the image of an eagle flanked by the enameled American flags, and the center is inscribed "Camp Haskell Athens, GA/ 1898/ Constitution/ Wisdom Justice Moderation/ 4799". The reverse is embossed "C. M. Robbins/ Maker/ Attleboro, Mass./ U.S.A." During the Spanish American War, Camp Haskell was organized for the 1st Brigade, 3rd Division, 2nd Army Corps for its winter encampment, and was named for Brigadier General Joseph T. Haskell, USV, in November 1898. The 3rd New Jersey Volunteer Infantry Regiment was the last to use the Haskell Camp, which closed upon their departure on 11 February 1899. - HKA#64901
