(Spanish American War) American Spanish American War officer's uniform and gear, belonging to a Captain Lewis, in the 3rd Cavalry. Includes: tunic; hat; revolver; and a small foot locker. The hat was made by John U Stetson Company. The revolver has a patent date of Jan 19, 1875. It is stamped on the grip "1890", with initials. Bottom of the grip is marked "B Co. 3 Cav." The foot locker is made of wood, with metal strappings. It measures 19 1/2"wide, 12" high, and 10 1/2" deep. The front panel is stenciled, "? ? Lewis, 3rd Cav." Each side panel is also stenciled; one reading "Capt. Lewis, 3rd Cav.", and the other "God save our Republic." The archive comes with 4 original photographs. 2 are family scenes, identified on verso as "Mrs Reno Lewis and baby" and "Jeff Lewis & family, Humphreys MO." The other 2 are military photographs, showing the 3rd Cavalry on the move, with caption "3rd Cav. Head of Column on March." There are some cracks to the wood of the foot locker, o/w condition is VG. $4,000-6,000
