<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="4"><tr><td><em> </em></td></tr><tr> <td width="100%"> - This decorative Victorian glass incorporated particles of mica or metalic flakes between layers of clear and colored glass. The Vasa Murrhina Glass Co, in Sandwich Mass. first patented this process in 1884 but other firms made similar wares. Hobbs, Brockunier and Company in Wheeling, West Virginia, made a cased glass lined with opaque white, and usually added mica flakes for spangling.
This is a swung glass dish with an opaque white with gold or mica flakes embedded, then a stretched green to clear layer over that. It makes a spectacular show piece. Approximately 11" x 2". In pristine condition.
