A comprehensive collection of various stamps of Russian aerospace, offering a vast overview of the history of Russian space stamp illustrations
The lot contains a comprehensive collection of various stamps of space theme, mainly of Russian and Soviet aerospace, kept in 16 small albums and a package. The stamps are somewhat arranged thematically in the albums. They are mostly horizontal stripes that are especially striking in their color variety and excellent state. Some few stamps of the collection are stamped.

The collection provides an overview of the richness of Russian stamp design, their facetted illustrations and rich subject variety. The stamps build a colorful diversity of space motives such as spacecraft, rockets, planets and spacemen. Especially the stamps of the time of the USSR provide testimony of the Soviet propaganda politic. There also many stamps of joint missions of different countries with Russia. Beautiful singular stamps are for example a Belka and Strelka mark or a 13 x 10.3 cm large stamp in honor of the 10th jubilee of the first Soviet satellite from 1967 for 30 kopeck. A small stamp is especially lovely; it shows cosmonauts conduction daily activities on a spacecraft, such as taking a shower, exercising or just floating around in the vehicle.



The draft of the Gagarin stamp and the stamp collection are in very good condition. The stamps are largely still in the complete blocks with the full perforation margins. The dimensions of the Gagarin stamp draft are 10.5 x 8.6 cm. The dimensions of the albums are max. 31 x 22 x 4 cm.
