Artist and illustrator. During his career, he accepted a major commission to do a series of paintings of the building, launch, and touchdown of the first space shuttle Columbia. In 1979, Künstler became the official Space Shuttle artist for NASA and Rockwell International. Original gauche painting of the liftoff of the Space Shuttle Columbia, on a 20 x 18 off-white artist’s board, signed in the lower left, “M. Kunstler.” Double-matted to an overall size of 20 x 18. In very fine condition.
