A portion of a thermal blanket flown on the Space Shuttle <I>Columbia.</B></I> Accompanied by a photocopy of NASA instructions detailing the steps to be taken to replace this blanket. In part, "<I>Apply a bar code label to the new blanket: V070-366109-032, Bar code V20206...Scrap the following listed (obsolete) blanket, by stamping both sides with the word 'SCRAP' using red ink (per SPI-620). V070-366109-011, ocn 52B21Q - Route the following (obsolete) blanket to logistics and request logistics to place blanket in the scrap container. V070-366109-011 ocn 52B21Q.</B></I>" The blanket portion is stamped "SCRAP" in red ink on both sides and the bar code label "<I>OV-102/ V20206</B></I>" is affixed and the code "<I>V070-366109-011</B></I>" is stamped on verso. The <I>Columbia</B></I> was Orbiter Vehicle-102 (OV-102). It had last flown November 19 to December 5, 1997 (STS-87). The next shuttle launch was <I>Endeavour</B></I> (STS-89) whose mission lasted from January 22-31, 1998. The photocopy indicates the blanket was replaced on February 11, 1998.
