Unflown thermal protection tile from the first space shuttle orbiter, the Space Shuttle Columbia (OV–102), 6 x 6 x 1.25, with yellow identification numbers, "VO70–394506, –242, –0008066, Z 00684–000M," and two red "Scrap" stamps. In very good condition, with some chips and gouges. Accompanied by a copy of a letter of provenance from Vic Losick, a former CBS cameraman who was given this tile while filming a documentary on the Space Shuttle program at Cape Canaveral; as well as two original NASA passes issued to Vic Losick, one press pass for the "National Space Technology Laboratories" and one official visitor pass to the "Michoud Assembly Facility." Also includes a color copy of a photo inscribed to Losick by John Young and Bob Crippen, the STS-1 crew that piloted the Columbia on its inaugural flight.
