Official NASA publicity photo for the STS-2, or Second Space Shuttle Orbital Test flight mission signed by its two-man crew. Commander ''Joe Engle'' and pilot ''Richard Truly'' sign the space between them in felt tip on the American flag. As rookie astronauts, they flew the space shuttle Columbia in 36 orbits around the Earth from 12-14 November 1981. A handwritten inscription, possibly by Engle, reads: ''To Hubert / Best regards''. Included in the lot are news clippings about the mission and a 3'' print of the mission insignia mounted to paper. 10'' x 8'' matte photo has NASA logo and promo blurb printed to verso. Near fine.
