American flag flown in space on NASA's STS-2 mission. On 12 November 1981 from Kennedy Space Center, the Space Shuttle Columbia launched its record-breaking mission as the very first orbital manned spacecraft to complete a second flight. Its crew, Joe Engle and Richard H. Truly were considered rookie astronauts, but landed safely two days later at Edwards Air Force Base. Flag measures 6'' x 4.25'' and comes mounted to an official NASA certificate featuring color photos of Columbia, mission insignia and a printed dedication to Donald A. Scoville. Measures 8.5'' x 11'' overall. Toning to adhesive on flag, else near fine.
