<td width="100%">
Produced in England by the SOWERBY GLASSWORKS, in pale green frosted uranium glass. This exceptionally detailed SWAN figural butter dish, known as the Rosalin Swan, was first introduced circa 1880 and remained in production until 1920. These early examples differ from those produced post 1920 as the gap between its lower neck and body was not filled in. After 1920, these later versions have this gap filled in with glass, which is less difficult to produce and is somewhat less elegant. Measuring 8 inches long by 5 1/2 inches deep x 5 inches tall and, both lid and base, in excellent condition. It is rare to find this intricately designed Swan figural butter dish in Vaseline uranium glass, especially with the delicate gap between the elegant neck and body intact. There is a chip on the rim in the front of the lid where it fits into the base [see photo] and two tiny nicks on the inside rim of the base otherwise bothe the swan lid and nase is in excellent condition.
