a moulded crown; over a back board of divided mantle board with moulded edge; above a frieze with block shape; leading to a fireplace opening with carved moulded frame; flanked by fluted pilasters, and ending on moulded plinths.

*Note: This mantle was removed the historical home in Fairfield County. this home was referred to as the Doctor W. K. Turner place. It was long considered to be one of the most impressive plantation houses in the county. This house was located one the Winnsboro-Newberry Highway not far from Little River. It was a large two-and-one-half story building with gable roof. Before the Revolutionary War this was a part of the vast Winn Estate. The mansion was built by the Palmers in the early 1800's. It then passed to James Lemmon before the Civil War, he then gave it to his daughter Elizabeth when she and Doctor W. K. Turner were married.
