Octavo (8.5" x 5.5"). 282 pages. Frontispiece portrait of Col. Thomas W. Pierce, the dedicatee. Illustrations in the text, and with the large folding color map at the rear (25" x 19"), map is two-sided, with Texas on one side and the U.S. and Texas on the other. Publisher's orange pebble-grain cloth with a double rule border stamped in blind on the covers, and lettered and decoratively stamped in gilt on the front cover and spine. Chocolate-brown coated endpapers. Very light general shelfwear and other very minor blemishes to the boards, previous owner's signature on the front pastedown endpaper and on the title.
