of coiled juncus with a plant motif in center and Greek key design encircling outer of edge of bottom, Western Reserve accession records indicate "made by the 'Kawia' of Shoshonean, a family branch of Mission Indians. Place: Ramio, CA., Time 1885-1890. Tribe now extinct;" 1 1/2" high x 13 1/2" diameter. Deaccessioned from the Western Reserve Historical Society of Cleveland, Ohio. Interior bottom missing some coiled stitches, interior light soil and faded, exterior very good, and with paper tag with number "49772" stapled to underside.
