coiled of juncus with dyed(?)rush designs replicating multi-petaled flowers, Western Reserve accession records indicate "made by the 'Kawia' of Shoshonean, a family branch of Mission Indians. Place: Ramio, CA., Time 1885-1890. Tribe now extinct;" 1.5" high x 13" diameter. Deaccessioned from the Western Reserve Historical Society of Cleveland, Ohio. Rim missing stitches in two small areas, several other areas without stiches on interior, front faded, backside colors excellent, very good condition, with paper label with number "49.771" stapled to basket.
