probably Cahuilla, of juncus, with designs of multi-petaled flowers, Museum record for number states "made by the 'Kawia' of Shoshonean, a family branch of Mission Indians. Place: Ramio, CA., Time 1885-1890. Tribe now extinct;" 1.5" high x 20" long. Deaccessioned from the Western Reserve Historical Society of Cleveland, Ohio. Very good, basket sides sag a little, minor berry stains from use on interior, paper label with number "49.774" stapled to basket.
