<B>George VI bronze and silver Proof set 1944,</B></I> KM-PS16, only 150 sets minted in this World War II year, a fabulous pedigreed set consisting of the following: the bronze 1/4 Penny, 1/2 Penny and Penny; and the silver 3 Pence (tiny planchet flaw behind king's head), 6 Pence, Shilling, 2 Shillings, and 2.5 Shillings -- the 1/2 Penny light brown but the other two bronzes dark mahogany in color, the silver all deeply mirrored with simply superb, pristine original iridescent surfaces showing various shades of color. Comes with the original mint box made of wood, cardboard and metal frame held together by six tiny nails. With the John Jay Pittman Collection auction flip insert as Lot 4854 in that sale of August 6-8, 1999.
