Something To Sing About Original Lobby Card Signed By James Cagney
Something To Sing About Original Lobby Card Signed By James Cagney The musical "Something To Sing About" (1937) is a refreshingly honest look at both Hollywood ego's and the price of fame. James Cagney plays Terry Rooney, a Bandleader out of New York, who goes to Hollywood to seek fame "on his own terms" (and we know how long that lasts!). His co-star is a young William Frawley, who started himself in real life in Vaudeville as a song-and-dance man and shows his stuff in this film. His character of Fred Mertz in "I Love Lucy" refers to many song-and-dance days as he portrays them in this film, and as was also part of his real life stage adventures. Lucy's maiden name in the series of "McGillicuddy" is said also to be a reference to a running joke in this film, since Cagney carries a secret, which is that his character's real name, before he changed it to Terry Rooney, is Thaddeus McGillicuddy. This is an original theatrical lobby card from the movie, and is personally signed by James Cagney. There is some staining on the edge boarders, and a small tear on the upper right hand corner. Card is 14"x11".
