Solingen Made M1840 U. S. Cavalry Saber Variation. 32.75 slightly curved blade, 38.5 overall. A beautiful example of the M1840 cavalry sword with a two-branch (half-basket) hilt and wire-wrapped ray skin grip. The blade bears a beautiful etched floral and military pattern with a large U.S. on one side. The blade is marked W.Walscheid/Solingen on the ricasso and there is a brass disk with Proved inset into the ricasso on the opposite side. The scabbard is iron with two rings for carrying slings and a well-developed drag. The sword is in very good condition with only minimal age toning to the blade, all wire wrap still present on the grip and no dents in the scabbard. This model sword was used extensively from the 1840s through the Civil War.

Shipping: Bats, Clubs, Sticks, Swords, Rif (view shipping information)
