Written in ink and datelined ''Warrington July 15th /64,'' letter reads in part: ''…We are well and tough, our brigade wagons are all loaded with ten days marching rations, they consist of hard bread coffee and sugar, they are not to be touched until we start. We are ordered to be ready at an hours notice. I expect that we shall go to Richmond the distance…one hundred miles…I expect that when we march from here we shall be fifty thousand strong. We are in Rickets division, there was a skirmish colpeper about twenty miles from here, its results were one killed five wounded and eleven taken prisoner. Our loss was three slightly wounded. There was one rebel lieutenant and one gunman that has broke his perol three times…'' Letter measures 5'' x 8'' and runs 2pp. Mild toning and foxing, otherwise near fine condition.
