Soldier-decorated Civil War-era Spencer repeating carbine, .52 cal., 22” round barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood stocks, #56008. This gun is in overall very good condition and shows a brown patina on the barrel with scattered small areas of erosion; brown patina to frame and lock plate with some scattered silvery finish in protected areas, no Stabler cut-off, very good bore, crisp action and very good markings; the wood is in overall very good condition showing scattered nick, mars and scratches from carry and storage, saddle ring and bar present. The butt stock shows absolutely genuine pierced pin decorations including a star, a heart, a chevron, an American Eagle and a standing horse on the left side and four stars, two chevrons and the name “B. E. Lilly” on the right side of the butt stock. Attached to the butt stock swivel is a collection tag marked “FENN” and “PVT. COLL.” . This classic Civil War soldier’s carbine came from the Fenn Galleries of Santa Fe, New Mexico and was in the owner’s private collection. Fenn is known for its fine artwork and high end collectibles. Further research on this piece is certainly indicated to determine the war record of B. E. Lilly. Est.: $2,500-$5,000.
