<td width="100%">
Soft paste scalloped plate with green background, raised gilt Rococo decoration and cherubs in different poses: holding a garland of flowers, a bird and a bow & arrow. This early piece has a very smooth surface, the plate is thick and made of "soft paste" porcelain, a very pure material used in the 1700's for artistic work of the highest quality (different from the later hard paste porcelain which contains particles of sand). When held against the light the plate is translucent and has a reddish glow characteristic of soft-paste porcelain. On the underside it has a barely visible embossed mark of a circled cross.

We are identifying it as Worcester based on the text handwritten on the reverse of the plate in blue marker in Spanish: "Libro: La Porcelana Europea, pagina 250, marca 819, Worcester ano entre 1751-1783" which translated to English means: "Book: "European Porcelain" page 250, mark 819. Worcester 1751-1783 period." We have found a circled cross among early Worcester marks in the Maria Penkala book, "European Porcelain," 1968 edition, page 188, mark 2591. Paint and gilding is in very good condition, with minimal wear, as shown on the photos; hairline is visible on the reverse side.
