Social Aid in 1817. An apothecary in Ca
Social Aid in 1817. An apothecary in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pa., Charles Bernhardt Waggoner, is unable to work at his trade because of a leg injury. Townspeople make appeals to the Court to provide him, "a citizen of the U.S.," with a peddler's license in order "to support himself and family." Group of six manuscript documents, 5 x 7 -1/2 to 8 x 12, from citizens of the town, including a court record, supplying character and other references for his aid. Fair to fine. Interesting.
