SN: 837 Early British military breech loading rifle chambered for the .577 Boxer cartridge, manufactured by B.S.A. circa 1872. Features a blued finish, 30.5" steel barrel with bayonet lug on the right side, fixed inverted ‘v’ front sight, flip-up ladder rear sight, two barrel bands, cleaning rod, rounded trigger, steel trigger guard, flat faced hammer, brown leather sling, and smooth walnut straight grip shoulder stock with steel forend cap & buttplate. Markings: Lock – “[crown]/B.S.A. Co./1872” & “[crown]/V.R”. Receiver - “III” along with various military proofs. Breech Block - “B.S.A. Co”, “837” and various military proofs. Stock – “DC” inside a diamond, “30”, and a round cartouche with “[crown]/[broad arrow]/W D/BIRMINGHAM/1”. Rifle exhibits a mottled grey/brown patina with small amounts of finish retained in the protected areas and some scattered pitting on the underside of the barrel towards the muzzle. Action is mechanically sound, the bore is very good, the markings are very good and the wood stock is very good with several dings. Condition is NRA Very Good. ***Antique Firearm***
