This piece is titled "Smugglers Attacked by Mexican Customs Guards" by Frederic Remington in 1901. This is Giclee print, No. 1 of 2 (pigmented inks on cotton canvas) came into existence by the print being miss-stretched during the production process. It was initially produced to protect the original, to hang in place of the original. The original artwork was commissioned by the owner of the original Remington painting. It was produced to the exact size and coloration specifics of the original under museum lighting conditions. The original and this print hung side by side to compare for exactness. The stretching error caused its rejection, (by the paintings owner), who then authorized a reprint for another perfected copy (#2). This copy is number 1 or 2. The only other time known for this painting to be reproduced is in Harpers Magazine on news print paper, much smaller. This print on canvas exhibits minor crazing over the entire print and was produced in 2007. Frame: 41.25" h x 31.375" w, Art: 39.25" h x 29.375" w
