Smith & Wesson model 1-1/2 .32 caliber rimfire revolver, nickel plated, pearl grips, period or factory inscribed on sideplate "Presented to David M. Foster, by his friends Jan. 1st 1873". Serial #72123. The pistol retains 40-60% original nickel, and cylinder has been vigorously polished to bright. The balance of the nickel shows a natural patina and some erosion and pitting, darkening, etc. where nickel has lifted. The front sight has been altered to a thin blade, the butt shows asmall cut on each side of the serial number on the frame for the addition of a cord type lanyard loop. The markings are good, the edges are good, the grips are good to very good with some small losses and natural aging. The inscription isbeautifully cut and is absolutely period. Est: $500 - $1,000
