Smith & Wesson Pre-27 Smython .357 Mag
SN: S150979 Custom large frame double action revolver built utilizing a 6” Colt Python barrel and 1956 vintage Smith & Wesson Pre-27 frame & cylinder. The ‘Smython’ or ‘Smolt’ revolvers were popular in the 1960’s & 1970’s amongst PPC competitors. The reasoning behind these ‘frankenguns’ is that it was believed that the Colt barrels were the most accurate due to their tighter bores & faster twist rate and the Smith & Wesson frames were superior due their smooth lockwork & durability. Features a blued finish, pinned 6" barrel with ventilated sighting rib & full underlug, raised ramp front sight with orange insert & brass bead, adjustable micrometer click rear sight, fluted six-shot cylinder with counterbored chambers, serrated .500” case hardened target trigger, case hardened .500" target hammer with knurled spur, five screw square butt N target frame with knurled top strap & six-groove grip straps and one-piece pebbled black rubber finger groove Hogue Monogrip. Revolver retains approximately 90% of its collective blued finish showing light edge wear, some handling marks/scratches, a bright drag line on the cylinder and a small spot of dark pin prick pitting on the right side of the barrel. The frame is stamped with the boxed “R-B” factory refinish mark. Action is smooth with very good lock-up, the bore is excellent, markings are good and the rubber grips are very good. Condition is near NRA Very Good. ***C&R Firearm***
