Smith & Wesson "2nd Model Schofield" No. 3 revolver in .45 Smith & Wesson Caliber. US martial top break single action revolver manufactured circa 1875, developed for the US Army with input from Major George Schofield. 7" lugged barrel with sighting rib, pinned front sight, v-notch on lever, S&W address and patent dates in 2 lines on left barrel lug, 1 line 1873 Schofield patent date on right lug, "U.S stamped on heel with serial number, matching serial number stamped on cylinder face along wit "E", "E P" stamped on bottom of barrel lug flat. The finish has turned a mostly brown patina with age, traces of blue in protected areas. the barrel latch and triggerguard retain most of their dull blue finish. Grips are very good with some minor chips, appears to have been varnished at some point. Barrel locks up tight. The bore is bright with good rifling, scattered light patches of pin-prick pitting.NRA Condition-Very Good. Antique Firearm.
