SN: 3674 '1st Model Single Action' manufactured circa 1870-1872. Features 8" barrel, German silver front sight blade, 6 shot fluted cylinder, rear sight notch in barrel latch, square butt, no knuckle on backstrap. Hammer has a single notch to lock back, with heavy trigger release, does not appear to be either of the expected half cock or full cock notches. Cylinder rotates smoothly and has good lock-up, timing a bit slow. Bore is good to very good with some frosting, some light pitting, overall fairly bright. Metal surfaces are a mottled dark gray and brown color, with patina or small areas of pitting throughout, slightly rough texture especially on barrel. Bare metal showing on edges. Barrel finish is darker and a bit different from frame. Ejector star rises and snaps back. Sliding button below hinge inhibits forceful ejection, star still rises partway when pressed during opening. Most screw slots are marred or otherwise damaged. Smooth walnut grips are good condition with some shrinkage. Barrel markings partially missing or eroded, with some legible letters. Condition is NRA Good *** Antique Firearm ***
