The pistol shows traces of original blue that has been lightly cleaned; some scattered light rust anderosion, the barrel measures 6-1/2”, the action is good, the bore is near excellent, the right side of the frame shows S&W trademark. The gun is fitted with oversize stag grips made after the turn of thecentury. This revolver was obtained from Maylon Franks who had a gun shop on Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena, CA until the early 1950s; he was a champion pistol shooter who knew the most famous shots of the 1900s and hefavored Smith & Wesson revolvers in his record shooting days and competing in the Olympics in Los Angeles. Little John’s Gun Shop, named “The Arms Locker” was across the street from Franks’ location and we first saw this pistol in the 1970s in the possession of the man who Franks had sold it to. We will give the buyer a letter to this effect, but there is no documentation and it should be researched thru S&W records as Franks special
